The fieldhouse outside of W. C. Majors Field at Fairhope Municipal Stadium will soon be named after longtime head football coach Joe Dean after the city council approved naming the building at the Oct. 10 meeting.

Dean was at the helm of the Pirates’ football program for a total of 12 years between 1976-81, 1986-90 and 1995 where he compiled an overall record of 69-58-1. Fairhope won four region titles and went to the playoff five seasons under Dean.

The 1987 squad won the most games when it finished 10-2 and scored 302 points on the season. That was the second in a string of three straight region titles and playoff qualifications.
