FAME – Built By Baldwin has received a $100,000 donation from the South Alabama Workforce Development Council, a regional organization focused on aligning education and economic development to meet workforce needs across South Alabama.
The contribution will establish an endowed scholarship fund, creating a permanent source of financial support for future FAME students. This investment will help secure the long-term success of FAME cohorts according to a news release.
"Thanks to this gift, we'll be able to invest in the success of FAME cohorts for generations to come," Jennifer Crawford, AL FAME Built By Baldwin Chapter President, said in the release.
The South Alabama Workforce Development Council, known for its commitment to workforce excellence, has played a crucial role in building the region's talent pipeline. Gulf Coast Media reported in February that the organization — also known as SAWDC AlabamaWorks — announced it would shut down later this year as part of a statewide realignment of workforce programs. It will officially dissolve on June 30. The council's partnerships with educational institutions, training programs and local industries have helped ensure South Alabama remains competitive in an evolving economy.
FAME – Built By Baldwin, which trains students for high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing, expressed appreciation for the council's support. The scholarship fund is expected to increase access to education and boost workforce readiness throughout the region.
"Thank you for your continued support of FAME – Built By Baldwin," Crawford said.
