Fairhope to host free shredding and electronics recycling event April 19

Posted

Just ahead of Earth Day, Fairhope is giving residents a chance to clean out clutter and safely dispose of sensitive documents and old electronics.

The city's free Community Shred Day is set for Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Planning and Zoning Building at 451 Pecan Ave. The event is designed to help protect against identity theft while promoting responsible recycling.

Curbside service will allow drivers to remain in their vehicles as staff collect items for shredding. In addition to paper documents, the event will also accept old electronics for safe disposal.

The event is part of Fairhope's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community involvement. Another shredding event is scheduled for November, with the exact date to be announced on the city's social media channels.
