The Fairhope Film Festival’s Monthly Movie Series will feature a special screening of "The Survivor" in April, bringing an emotional and powerful true story to the big screen.
Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barry Levinson, “The Survivor” is based on the life of Harry Haft, a Holocaust survivor who was forced to fight other prisoners in concentration camps to stay alive. Adapted from the memoir “Harry Haft, Survivor of Auschwitz, Challenger of Rocky Marciano,” the film blends elements of a boxing drama, a love story and a harrowing survival tale.
Alan Scott Haft, the Fairhope-based author of the memoir and Harry Haft’s son, will be in attendance to introduce the film and take part in a brief Q&A session after the screening.
The event will take place at the Fairhope Film Festival’s Ben Gall Theater, 122 Fairhope Ave., Suite 1. Showtimes are set for Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. and Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m., with doors opening 30 minutes before each screening.
Tickets are $15 per person, payable by cash or check at the door. Seating is limited, and pre-registration is required at www.fairhopefilmfestival.org/monthly-movies-2025.
