Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival to host The Haven's annual pet adoption event, plus demonstrations

Posted

The Haven is partnering with Greer's Fairhope Market for the 11th-annual Red Carpet Runway pet adoption event at the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival, set for Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will take place in the parking lot of Greer's, 75 S. Section St., in downtown Fairhope.

Excitement will fill the air as wonderful dogs and puppies walk down the red carpet, with an emcee announcing each pet. All animals featured will be available for adoption, giving attendees the chance to meet the dogs "up close and personal," while Haven staff and volunteers answer questions. The adoption fee includes several beneficial elements to help get pets settled in their new homes.

In addition to the pet adoption festivities, the event will highlight Dog Training by Brittany, who will perform live demonstrations with her dogs. Haven merchandise will also be available for purchase, and children can enjoy free Maddie's Activity Books. Greer's will serve delicious food and drinks to keep everyone refreshed throughout the event.

"The Haven is proud to partner once again with Greer's. The event highlights our Shelter on Wheels, filled with adorable dogs and puppies who are ready to find their forever homes," Michael Graham, executive director of The Haven, said in a news release.

The Haven also takes this opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering pets while engaging with festival attendees and businesses in the community.

"With shelters in our community often at capacity, The Haven works tirelessly to help, including pulling unclaimed strays from the Fairhope Animal Shelter, rehabilitating them, and rehoming them with loving families. The event also provides an opportunity to share valuable low-cost spay-neuter resources, offer free goodies for kids, and engage with festival attendees, volunteers and community businesses such as Greer's — all while having a wonderful time together," Graham added.

With many loving pets available, this is an excellent opportunity to adopt a new best friend. Adopting a rescued dog is a life-changing experience for both the pet and its new owner. The Haven asks all to remember, "Rescue is the Best Breed!"

The event will take place only if pets remain available for adoption. If all dogs are adopted on Saturday, the event will not be held on Sunday.
