Fairhope boys, Foley and Daphne girls ranked in newest edition of AABC Coaches Poll

With a 49-38 win over Gulf Shores on the road last Friday, Jan. 13, the Elberta Warriors boys’ basketball team collected the first area win in school history.

It also helped improve the squad’s overall record to 9-8 entering tonight’s Class 5A Area 1 matchup against B.C. Rain at home.

A few Baldwin County teams were also resuming area play Tuesday night to start this week with Fairhope hosting Daphne, Robertsdale hosting McGill-Toolen and Snook Christian hosting Escambia Academy.

Other teams in non-area action Tuesday night included Orange Beach hosting Baldwin County, Bayside Academy hosting Spanish Fort, St. Michael hosting Pensacola Catholic and Murphy hosting Gulf Shores.

Three ranked in AABC Coaches Poll

One boys’ team and two girls’ teams from Baldwin County also appeared on the newest edition of the coaches’ poll from the Alabama Association of Basketball Coaches (AABC) and all of them compete in Class 7A.

The Fairhope Pirates were ranked No. 8 in the boys’ poll and the Foley Lady Lions (No. 6) and Daphne Lady Trojans (No. 9) were both featured in the girls’ poll. Fairhope and Foley both held first-place standings in their respective Class 7A Area 2 entering play Tuesday evening.
