Elberta has a new pizza joint in town with the self-explanatory Elberta Pizza.
Located at 25151 State St., Elberta Pizza has been open since late September serving pizza, wings and desserts for residents of Elberta and Baldwin County.
What makes them stand out from the other pizza establishments in the area, its owner says, is that much of their food and ingredients are made from scratch in their own kitchen.
"We cook a lot of our own meats and slice them," said Erin Equihua, owner of Elberta Pizza. "We like to cook a lot of things here. It's like a lot of pizza, so it kind of makes us different, makes it taste a lot better, a lot fresher. We try to do things with local [ingredients]. Try to do anything local we can."
Along with their bestsellers, such as the classic supreme pizza and "the Warrior," a pizza with four different types of meat, Elberta Pizza also has their own pizza of the month. For the month of October, they served a German sausage pizza, with the sausage coming from local farm fresh meats.
"It's just the little extra steps that just make it a whole lot better," Equihua said.
The establishment also has events planned. Equihua revealed that for the Christmas season, Elberta Pizza will have a Santa's workshop where kids can make arts and crafts and do other fun activities with their parents.
Elberta Pizza is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 8:00 p.m.
"Just come try us out," Equihua said. "There's not many places in Elberta open after lunch, you know."
