ELBERTA — Alyssa Corbitt, Elberta Middle School Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher, was recognized as Master Adviser at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference June 29 – July 3.
She will also serve as one of ten National Executive Council Advisers (NECA) representing FCCLA throughout the 2022 – 2023 year. Corbitt will support Mary Katherine Gunn of Elberta High School, who was elected to serve as the president of the national executive council during the National Leadership Conference.
FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. More than 8,000 attendees came to the 2022 conference, held in San Diego, California.
As a Master Adviser, Corbitt was recognized alongside 34 fellow 2022 Master Adviser recipients awarded nationwide. The award recognizes advisers who have successfully advised an affiliated chapter for a minimum of three years, continuously promoted FCCLA and FCS education, operated an integrated chapter with a balanced program of work, facilitate youth-centered activities and continues to integrate new ideas and FCCLA happenings.
FCCLA members excel through the guidance and support received from FCCLA Master Advisers.
"Master Advisers deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments and continuing efforts to FCCLA and FCS education," said Sandy Spavone, Executive Director of FCCLA. "To honor these advisers only shows a small piece of how appreciative the Board of Directors, National Staff, FCCLA members, and supporters are to have these advisers lead FCCLA chapters."
In her role as NECA, she will support Gunn in guiding FCCLA members, preparing for conferences, meetings and events, assisting National Staff, and representing the organization in various capacities. These advisers provide valuable Family and Consumer Sciences insight and experience as well as FCCLA knowledge used to help lead FCCLA.
"I am so humbled by the opportunity to support Mary Katherine on this once in a lifetime journey," said Corbitt.
