SPANISH FORT — Baldwin County will have a representative in all but one of the state bowling tournaments after three teams earned top-four finishes at the South Regional championship at Eastern Shore Lanes Friday, Jan. 20.

The Elberta Warriors registered the highest team finish as the Class 1A/5A runner-up and were joined on the boys’ circuit by the Spanish Fort Toros who earned a regional semifinal finish in the Class 6A/7A tournament. In the girls’ tournament, Gulf Shores recorded a first-round win and closed as regional semifinalists to earn a spot in the Class 1A/5A state tournament.

Ending their season at the regional championships included Orange Beach (Class 1A/5A) and Daphne (Class 6A/7A) on the girls’ circuit and Gulf Shores (Class 1A/5A) in the boys’ tournament.

The finals of the two-day regional tournament featured a single-elimination bracket where teams played a best-of-seven series through a Baker format where a lineup of five bowlers each completed two frames.
