Eastern Shore Optimist Club announces 2022 scholarship winners

The Eastern Shore Optimist Club has awarded its 2022 scholarships to Eastern Shore high school seniors who have participated in a previous Dogwood Trail Pageant and Scholarship Program or served on the Dogwood Trail Court.

Each court member receives a $1,250 cash scholarship to the college of her choice. Additionally, $500 cash scholarships are awarded to pageant participant winners of the essay, interview, creative introduction and presence and composure categories of the pageant.

The Dogwood Trail Court members receiving scholarships this year are:

2020 Court Members
— Sheridan Middleton – Spanish Fort High School

2021 Court Members
— Georgia Byrd – Bayshore Christian School
— Sophie Jernigan – Daphne High School
— Galey McKelvain – Fairhope High School
— Gracie Olson – Spanish Fort High School

— Caroline Lott – St. Michael High School

The 2020 Highest Dollars Ads Sales scholarship, sponsored by The Dogwood Trail Program, was awarded to Grace Noonan from St. Michael High School.

The 2020 Crystal Kae Davis Spirit of Dogwood scholarship, sponsored by The Dogwood Trail Program and Belk Charity Sales, went to Sarah Jones from Bayshore Christian School.

The 2020 essay first place category winner, sponsored by The Dogwood Trail Program was awarded to Galey McKelvain from Fairhope High School.

The 2020 creative introduction scholarship, sponsored by the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival Foundation, went to Sheridan Middleton from Spanish Fort High School.

The 2020 Interview scholarship, sponsored by The Citizen's Bank, went to Cameron Herzog from Fairhope High School.

The 2021 essay first place category winner, sponsored by Daphne Pediatric Dentistry went to Georgia Byrd from Bayshore Christian School.

The 2021 creative introduction scholarship, sponsored by the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival Foundation was awarded to Gracie Olson from Spanish Fort High School.

The 2021 interview scholarship, sponsored The Citizen's Bank, went to Sophie Jernigan from Daphne High School.

"The Eastern Shore Optimist Club is incredibly pleased to be able to provide scholarships to participants of the Dogwood Trail Scholarship Program, and we congratulate this year's scholarship recipients," JoAnn Broadus, director said.

A total of $12,000 was awarded to the Class of 2022.
