Driver facing charges after high-speed chase from Robertsdale ends in crash

ROBERTSDALE — A man is facing multiple charges following a high-speed pursuit Monday that ended in a wreck at a home in the Elsanor community east of Robertsdale.

According to a release issued Tuesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on U.S. 90 east of Robertsdale at around 7:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 for no turn signal and reckless driving.

After losing control and spinning out in the median at the Baldwin Beach Express, the vehicle continued southbound in the northbound lane, then turned back onto U.S. 90 heading east at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour.

The pursuit ended in a crash at a home just west of County Road 87, hitting a power pole, a large oak tree and two parked vehicles.

No one was injured at the residence, according to the release. The driver was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for a possible broken leg and hip, along with other injuries.

He is facing multiple charges, including attempt to elude, two counts of reckless endangerment, reckless driving and other traffic offenses. He also faces charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm after a gun was found inside the vehicle.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency assisted in the pursuit, according to the release.
