Downtown Foley marks first anniversary of Third Thursday, launches Summer Bingo Challenge

Posted

Downtown Foley's Third Thursday event series is turning one, and organizers are inviting the community to join the celebration Thursday, June 19. The event marks a milestone year of growth, collaboration and a commitment to fostering a vibrant downtown experience every third Thursday of the month.

Wes Abrams, president of Foley Main Street, called the past year a testament to what a dedicated community can achieve.

"We're incredibly proud of what our downtown businesses and the community have built together in this first year," Abrams said. "Like any new venture, it takes time, dedication, and a lot of heart. We've seen wonderful enthusiasm and know that with continued support, Third Thursdays will only get bigger and better. It's truly about fostering a vibrant atmosphere where people can stroll, shop, dine and connect."

From its start, the event series has relied on the enthusiasm and support of local businesses. Pioneering shops like Paint Party Studio, Raw Amour Jewelry, Dorothy June Booksellers, Fish River Furnishings and Art Gallery, Feast and the Foley Art Center were among the first to join, offering unique specials, discounts and in-store events that have helped shape Third Thursday into a success.

To build on that momentum, organizers are launching the Downtown Foley Summer Bingo Challenge. Visitors can pick up a bingo card at participating businesses starting June 19 and collect stamps throughout the summer. Each Third Thursday features a different theme: June's "Our Big One!" celebrates the anniversary; July's "Never Too Late to Celebrate the Red, White and Blue!" embraces community pride; and August's "End of Summer & Bingo Bonanza!" culminates with a drawing for a $250 prize in downtown gift cards.

"Third Thursdays are for everyone — residents and visitors alike," said Foley Main Street Executive Director Darrelyn Dunmore. "Whether you're a participating business, a neighboring shop, or a community member, your support matters. Come down, enjoy the atmosphere, make a purchase, or simply share a post online. It all contributes to the energy and success of Downtown Foley."

Downtown Foley Third Thursdays invite locals and tourists to explore shops, restaurants and cultural attractions in a relaxed evening setting. For a full list of participating businesses and offers, visit https://downtown-foley-third-thursdays-25323.grwebsite.com/.
