SUMMERDALE — Baldwin EMC has announced that the cooperative's board of trustees has selected Carolyn Doughty of Gulf Shores to fill the vacant District 7 position on the board.

Doughty is a native of Citronelle, Alabama, and has lived in Gulf Shores for more than 40 years. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama and has been a licensed real estate agent since 1979. During her career, she has earned multiple professional designations and awards on both local and national levels.

Before joining Baldwin EMC's Board of Trustees, Doughty previously served on leadership boards for the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce, the Baldwin County Association of Realtors, Gulf Shores Utilities and the Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism and Sustainability. She also served on the Gulf Shores City Council from 2001 to 2016, and as the city's Mayor Pro Tempore for 12 years.

Baldwin EMC Chief Executive Officer Karen Moore said Baldwin EMC's board and management staff are looking forward to working closely with Doughty.

Doughty fills the position left vacant by the passing of Jimmy LaFoy who served on Baldwin EMC's Board of Trustees for 13 years before his death in May.
