Discover new agricultural practices and technologists at Baldwin County's Field Day

Posted

Baldwin County farmers have an opportunity to learn about the latest research happening at our local Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES) during the upcoming Field Day.

Land-grant institutions are built on research, teaching and education. At the AAES, Alabama Cooperative Extension System agents and specialists deliver programming and conduct research every week and AAES researchers bring applied research to Alabamians through field days.

Field days highlight research findings, new varieties and best practices – among other things. The field days are opportunities for producers and community members to learn but they also provide continuing education opportunities for commercial representatives and certified crop advisers.
The Gulf Coast Research and Extension Center will host a field day Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The field day will showcase ongoing research with cotton, corn and soybean varieties. It will also feature updates on diseases and pests, as well as the cotton production system, the Smart Corn system, nematode control strategies, drones for application and weed control strategies.

The Gulf Coast Research and Extension Center is at 8300 AL – 104, Fairhope. For more information on experiment station sites or upcoming events, visit www.aces.edu.
