Daughters of the American Revolution host dedication ceremony

Members of the Zachariah Godbold Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Bay Minette and family members of Mrs. Clara Costen Wilson assembled for her DAR Insignia Grave Marker Dedication ceremony at the Bay Minette Cemetery gravesite of Mrs. Wilson on June 21, 2021.

Mrs. Wilson was verified as a member of the National Society [of the] Daughters of the American Revolution as a descendant of Lieutenant Francis Tennille on Oct. 12, 1949.

She joined the Society as a member of the Fort Mims Chapter, NSDAR, Stockton and was recognized as a Charter Member of the Zachariah Godbold Chapter, NSDAR upon its organization date of June 1, 1953.

The ceremony featured photographs, shared by the family, of the granddaughter of their Revolutionary War Patriot and Mrs. Wilson’s grandmother, Mrs. Clarricy Harlow Tennille, Mrs. Wilson’s mother, Carrie Eugene Watkins Costen, and Mrs. Clara Wilson. Mrs. Shelia Tyrell, referencing Chapter history and newspaper publication, highlighted Mrs. Wilson's faithful service to the Zachariah Godbold Chapter, NSDAR while serving on the Conservation, DAR Good Citizens, DAR Scholarship, and The Flag of the United States of America Committees and as a gracious hostess to Chapter Members and guests.
