Daphne native Braylon Nelson was announced as one of two Alabama representatives selected to the seventh annual 14U Perfect Game Select Baseball Festival Sunday, Sept. 4, at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Fla.

The member of UMS-Wright’s Class of 2026, Nelson will be joined by Hoover middle infielder and Tennessee commit Jaxson Wood in competing in the baseball tournament but also raising money for a couple of great causes.

“In the weeks leading up to the event, players will have the opportunity to participate in a fundraising effort to raise critical funds for families experiencing pediatric cancer at Golisano Children’s Hospital as well as to help the Perfect Game Cares Foundation’s Grow the Game Fund, which seeks to provide opportunities for baseball and softball players from the many underserved and at-risk communities across America,” the announcement release says. “Last year’s team alone raised over $130,000 for the causes.”

Fans can donate to their favorite player by texting their unique keyword. For Braylon Nelson, text “14USelect46” to 71777 and for Jaxson Wood, text “14USelect3” to 71777.

“The Perfect Game Cares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is proud to partner with our 2022 14U Select players to raise important funds for children from Golisano Children’s Hospital and children from America’s most underserved communities,” said Jennifer Ford, Executive Director of the Perfect Game Cares Foundation. “Together, we can provide hope and opportunity for these beautiful children.”

The 14U Select Baseball Festival will be streamed live on PerfectGame.TV and aired on CBS Sports. Additionally, free tickets are available for all area families. For more information on the game and free tickets, visit perfectgame.org/SelectBaseballFestival/2022.aspx.
