Sept. 21, Daphne senior Noah Miller announced his commitment to the University of Mobile Rams soccer program after his final season with the defending state champion Trojans.
Miller represented Daphne in the spring on the Baldwin County Public School’s all-county team, the ASWA’s Class 7A first-team all-state, as well as the super all-state first-team, and was an AHSAA North-South All-Star over the summer.
He and the Trojans claimed the school’s first Blue Map trophy with postseason wins over Theodore, Dothan, Davidson and finally Oak Mountain after a 12-1 regular season that included a 5-1 mark in 7A Region 2. Daphne won its final eight regular-season games before its undefeated run through the playoffs.
Miller will join four other Eastern Shore natives who hold spots on Mobile’s 2022 roster, including Ismael Castillo from Fairhope, Jeb Scarbrough from Bayshore Christian and Ty Ferguson and Ty Turner from Bayside Academy.
The Rams compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and got off to a 6-0-1 start to the regular season and opened play within the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) with a 6-0 win over Talladega College Sept. 24.
The commitment to Mobile marks another member of the Trojans’ state championship roster to join the college ranks after recent graduate Henry McMurphy earned a spot on the Milligan Buffaloes’ roster and competes in NAIA’s Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).
Following the recent realignment of the Alabama High School Athletics Association (AHSAA), the Daphne Trojans’ region will remain nearly identical with Fairhope and Foley staying but the McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets, fresh off a state semifinal run after they won Class 6A Region 1, will replace the Murphy Panthers in the 2023 hunt for the playoffs.
