DAPHNE — Tucked off of Main Street in Daphne you'll find Brewer's Alley, a hidden gem of a store that sells a wide variety of stones.

For owners Patrick and Meghan Brewer, their passion for collecting and selling gems began nearly a decade ago when they started attending shows.

"At first, we just needed a place for storage," said Meghan Brewer, who is a Daphne native and attended Daphne schools.

In 2019, they found a space off Main Street and opened Brewer's Alley, surrounded by hair salons and other boutique-style shops.

Like a lot of business owners, they had to shut down when the pandemic hit in 2020 but were able to stay connected to their clients through social media.

The Brewers say their clients are as varied as the gems they sell.

"We literally attract all kinds from all walks of life and all political affiliations," Patrick Brewer said. "This place is like the great equalizer. They can agree on nothing else, but when they come here, they leave all that at the door. It's very profound."

One of the largest areas of clientele deal in metaphysical gemstones and crystals.

"It's just a peaceful, inviting space to be in," Meghan Brewer said. "I call this my Zen place. With two kids, coming to work is like an escape."

The gemstones come from around the world, as near as Florida and Canada to as far away as Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Brewer's Alley maintains an online presence through their Facebook page and through their website, thebrewersalley.com.

The shop, located at 1905 Main St. Building B, Suite A in Daphne, is open Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. For more information visit the website or call (251) 656-9837.
