Daphne Utilities awarded five grants to local educators recently, celebrating another successful "Grant Day" designed to empower classroom innovation.
According to a news release, representatives visited four schools in the area to recognize teachers selected for funding support. This year's grants are focused on STEM, utility-related and environmental projects, emphasizing Daphne Utilities' commitment to fostering creative, hands-on learning experiences in local schools.
The grant program, a longstanding initiative by Daphne Utilities, provides financial assistance to teachers for projects that enhance hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), as well as subjects tied to water and environmental sustainability.
Chief Communications Officer Samantha Coppels expressed enthusiasm for the annual program, which she said brings both creativity and educational depth to local classrooms.
"Each year, I'm thrilled to see the creativity of our local teachers as they bring new ideas to life through the grant program," Coppels said in the release. "Supporting our teachers in creating impactful learning experiences is such a pleasure. I can't wait to see the projects these five teachers complete this year."
The recipients are expected to use the funds to implement unique classroom activities that promote student engagement and an understanding of real-world applications in STEM and environmental stewardship. Projects funded by the program in previous years have included water quality testing, energy efficiency studies, and ecosystem research activities.
