The City of Daphne recently recognized a former Trojan football player who became one of the most recent graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Hamilton Baker earned his Bachelor of Science degree on December 20, 2024, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant where he will serve as a transportation officer in the Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia.
Earlier this week, Baker was recognized by the City of Daphne where Mayor Robin LeJeune presented a certificate of recognition to the member of Daphne High School’s Class of 2020. Baker also attended Daphne Elementary, W.J. Carroll Intermediate and Daphne Middle School within Baldwin County Public Schools.
A two-time all-county selection and an all-region player his senior season, Baker totaled 106 tackles, 5 interceptions and two forced fumbles in his career with the Daphne Trojans before he signed with the Army Black Knights. Baker played in all 14 games this season as a senior nickleback for an Army team that played for the American Athletic Conference championship and pushed his college totals to 7 tackles with 1 tackle for loss over 29 games.
Off the field, Baker kept up with his community service efforts in the Hudson Valley and West Point communities where he was involved in initiatives including Hudson Valley Special Olympics, Hudson Valley Food Bank, LeadHER workshop and Wishing Day at West Point Elementary School.
Locally, his Army football bio also mentions community service initiatives including LSK Lupus Walk Foundation, SEEDS Fun Run, Ruff Wilson Youth Organization, Baldwin County Special Olympic Flag Football Team and the Compass II Life Program. Baker was also a special guest during Kenny King Charities’ 12th-annual Christmas Shop-A-Thon this winter.
