Six-year NFL veteran and current Chaplain of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, Jeremiah Castille, is set for a visit to Baldwin County for a scheduled speaking opportunity in Orange Beach on Aug. 23.

The event, open to all ages, will be hosted by the Lower Alabama Young Professionals (LAYP) at the Springhill Suites at The Wharf in conjunction with the Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge, scheduled for the following day.

Castille played for the last Crimson Tide team coached by the legendary Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant and received All-SEC honors in addition to being named the 1982 Liberty Bowl MVP.

His NFL career led him to Denver where he forced and recovered a key fumble in the 1987 AFC Championship Game which helped the Broncos punch their ticket to Super Bowl XXII where he recorded an interception. In 2001, Castille was named Chaplain of the Crimson Tide football team, a role he holds to this day.

“We are so thrilled that Jeremiah will be coming down to speak with us,” said Cory Skipper, Chairman of the LAYP group. “The skills and leadership traits he learned throughout his long career, along with his motivational messages, are invaluable.”

Admission to the event is $35. Along with the speaking event, attendees will be granted access to a tailgate-themed appetizer buffet as well as a live cooking demo and sampling from Bill-E’s Small Batch Bacon out of Fairhope. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their best game-day jerseys and attire.
