The crash occurred about 6:02 a.m. when a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by Chase J. Sharp, 34, struck the rear of a 2000 Kenworth tractor-trailer, which was being driven by a 62-year-old man from Frisco City, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The tractor-trailer was disabled and partially in the roadway at the time of the crash, which occurred near the 29-mile marker about five miles south of Bay Minette.
