County asks residents' opinion on growth

Posted

BAY MINETTE – Baldwin County residents have until Aug. 31 to provide their opinions on how the region should prepare for growth in the future.

The county Department of Planning and Zoning is conducting an online survey on growth. Survey participants will provide information about what they feel is needed to deal with the continuing changes in Alabama’s fastest growing county.

The survey can be accessed at www.baldwincountyal.gov/BaldwinOurVision2. Information from the survey will be used to create a guide for dealing with growth.

Anyone wanting more information on the county Long-Range Land Use Plan can go to www.BaldwinOurVision.com.

The last day to complete the survey is Aug. 31.

From fewer than 100,000 people 30 years ago, Baldwin County’s population is now more than 230,000 and is expected to exceed 300,000 by 2040, according to county officials.

Baldwin County conducted a series of public meetings and an online meeting in July as part of the process to develop a Citizen’s Guide to Growth in the County.

The meetings centered around reviewing draft vision, themes and strategies shaped by previous rounds of public input, draft future land use framework and a discussion around rural character preservation.

The presentation materials and live recording are posted on the website.
