Community shows appreciation to Fairhope Police

Posted

In the wake of the police shooting in Dallas, citizens from across the city of Fairhope have been stopping by the police department to show their appreciation to the city’s officers in a variety of ways. As a post on the Fairhope Police Facebook page said: “This morning began with a young girl and her mother carrying a box of pastries through the front door. The little girl handed over a letter that her mother wrote expressing their family’s appreciation for law enforcement officers. Later, a woman tearfully offered up a plate of fresh-baked brownies. Churches and businesses called offering lunches and support. Most are unsure how to express what they are feeling so they comfort us with food and treats. They are all very kind and you can see the hurt and confusion in their own faces. Staff members huddle over the offerings, whispering gratitude. A young family stops in and humbly asks if they can share a prayer with officers. Yes, yes you can.” The Fairhope Police say they are overwhelmed by the public support and thank everyone who has reached out.
