Coastal Alabama-South head softball coach Mallory Radwitch needed just two wins to reach the 400-win milestone, and the Coyotes did just that in a Monday doubleheader.

With 18-0 and 13-0 run-rule victories in non-conference action at home against the Carl Sandburg Chargers from Illinois, Coastal Alabama improved to 15-10 on the season with its eighth and ninth run-rule wins. It also locked in the 400th career win in Radwitch’s head coaching career that started at her alma mater, Faulkner State Community College which has since turned into Coastal Alabama Community College.

Radwitch, formerly Meadows, spent two seasons at Faulkner State playing softball and volleyball — where she won the President's Award and was an All-Alabama Academic Team selection — then continued her softball career at Belhaven where she was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2022.

A two-time All-American, awarded by both the NFCA and NAIA, during her time at the Blazers helped Radwitch set records that still stand today. The highest career slugging percentage (.835) belongs to Radwitch, as well as single-season bests in batting average (.485), home runs (18), RBIs (78), total bases (150) and slugging percentage (.909) from 2009.

She also sits second all-time in career home runs (33), on-base percentage (.503) and batting average (.451) as well as holds top-10 standings for career RBIs (124 for 5th), total bases (274 for 6th) and hits (149 for 10th).

On the high school stage, Radwitch is still the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s single-season leader in earned run average with a 0.09 mark over 77.2 innings as a member of the Baker Honeybees’ 2005 state championship squad.

Now in her 12th year at the helm of the Coyote program, the Daphne native and current Spanish Fort resident has helped coach more than 50 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region selections and led Coastal Alabama to its first-ever NJCAA District Championship berth in 2023.

Also in that time, four Player or Pitcher of the Year selections from the Alabama Community College Conference have played for Radwitch, who was named the Southern Division Co-Coach of the Year in 2019, and her teams have won six Southern Division regular season titles.

The Coyotes’ 2025 roster includes a pair of Baldwin County alumnae on the roster as well as another in the dugout as a team manager. Taylor Hunt from Daphne and Kailin Parker from Gulf Shores are both sophomores this season, as is Kierra Means from Bay Minette who is in her second season as a team manager.

Through her first 23 games, all of which were starts, Hunt leads Coastal Alabama — and sits fourth in the ACCC — with 27 RBIs and sits second in the clubhouse with 27 hits, 3 home runs and 44 total bases. Her 23 runs scored ranked third on the team to go along with a .342 batting average, .918 OPS and 4 stolen bases. In the field, Hunt owns a .898 fielding percentage with 31 putouts and 13 assists on 49 total chances.

Parker has registered 16 starts in her 17 appearances for the Coyotes and has logged a .365 batting average and .984 OPS with 19 hits, including 7 doubles and a home run, 16 runs, 9 RBIs and 29 total bases. She also held a .925 fielding percentage with 14 putouts and 23 assists across 40 total chances.

With a doubleheader sweep of Northeast Alabama on Tuesday, Coastal Alabama took a 17-10 record into this weekend’s games. The Coyotes are scheduled for a road doubleheader against Southern Union on Friday before the Bison come to Bay Minette the following Monday for ACCC action.

Coastal Alabama rattled off 12-straight wins from Feb. 14-27 where seven came by run rule. The Coyotes have logged a 10-2 record on their home diamond where six have come by run rule.

With 239 hits in 687 at-bats, Coastal Alabama carries a .348 team batting average and leads the ACCC with 179 RBIs. In the pitcher’s circle, the Coyotes have recorded a 3.78 team ERA over 152 innings with a conference-leading 129 strikeouts.
