Classic Rock tribute show 'Dream On' returns to Orange Beach stage this month

The Expect Excellence Music Department is cranking up the volume once again with the return of its crowd-favorite rock production, Dream On – A Tribute to Classic Rock, set for a three-night run June 26-28 at the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center.

This summer's original production features a fresh 24-song setlist packed with legendary rock anthems from the 1970s through the 1990s. From Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" to Van Halen's "Jump," the two-hour performance promises an electric night of nostalgia, air guitars and sing-along moments.

Music Director Caleb Pittman said the high-energy show captures the spirit of the golden era of rock with a community-driven cast of about 40 performers. Rehearsals have been intensive, he said, as the team works to bring rock classics to life with accuracy and passion.

"This show is just a blast," Pittman said in a news release. "The talent of our community is insane, and to see them performing some of the greatest songs of all time - live, is an experience no one should miss."
Among Pittman's favorites in this year's set is the technically demanding "Tom Sawyer" by Rush.

"It is a very complex song with constant time changes and technical instrumental elements," he said. He welcomed the challenges this song presented, adding "It's a song that you know from the very first note, so you better nail it!"

General admission tickets are just $15, making it a budget-friendly night out for music lovers of all ages. Tickets are available now at www.orangebeachal.gov/performingarts under "City of Orange Beach Expect Excellence Performing Arts Presents: Dream On – Summer 2025."

The Orange Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 23908 Canal Road on the east side of the Orange Beach Middle/High School campus. The box office is open weekdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and can be reached at (251) 923-0043.
