Mr. Clarence C. Whiten Jr., known by everyone as Whitey, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020. He was the son of Clarence C. Whiten, Sr. and Beatrice Whiten Berry. Whitey was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Tucker, GA. Born a natural athlete, he spent his early adulthood playing baseball until an injury ended his career. His love for helping others and those who suffered from addiction turned his counseling career into his legacy. He was an integral member of the Baldwin County Drug Court team and a passionate addiction counselor for over 25 years. He will be missed by his many clients and community. Whitey will be remembered as the most competitive guy on the golf course and as someone you could always call for help. He was a fighter and a survivor all his life, who wanted to help ease the struggles of others. He loved his wife, family, two cats, and the life he built for himself in Foley, AL. Whitey is survived by his wife, Melissa Whiten; children, Chris Whiten, Beth Whiten Pendergraft, Jeremy Whiten, Carla Moser; stepdaughter Callie Carrio and many wonderful grandchildren. In memory of Whitey, donations may be made to Providence Foundation which funds one of Whitey’s favorite places, Camp Blue Bird, P.O. Box 850429, Mobile, AL 36685, providencehospitalfoundation.org. The family will be hosting a private celebration of his life at a later date.
