Children's of Alabama transformed its hospital hallways into a festive Halloween scene last week, bringing cheer to young patients who are spending the holiday in the hospital.
Staff and volunteers distributed trick-or-treat bags filled with Halloween-themed items, offering the children a chance to experience the excitement of the season despite their hospital stay.
The trick-or-treat bags, handed out by hospital staff, included cozy Halloween blankets and colorful cards filled with heartfelt messages. These cards, sent in from people across Alabama, were part of the hospital's annual Halloween card drive, a tradition that lets Alabamians share their best holiday wishes with the young patients.
"Today's event allows patients and their families a chance to celebrate Halloween," said Mindy Wald, Community Development Manager at Children's of Alabama. "We would not be able to bring this joy to the families without our community partners."
The celebration was made possible through a partnership with Protective Life Foundation, which contributed to creating a memorable day for the children.
"At Protective, we understand the importance of community and the joy that a holiday like Halloween brings," said Lori Dixon, Assistant Vice President of Protective Life Foundation. "For children spending Halloween in the hospital this year, we are presenting them with a special bag of Halloween treats that will help create those unforgettable moments and spread a little magic of the season."
Adding to the fun, Spirit Halloween donated costumes for the young patients, allowing them to fully embrace the Halloween spirit. From superheroes to fairies, each costume brought smiles to the children's faces, making this Halloween a joyful escape from hospital routines.
