Children's Dance Theatre is set to bring a festive local twist to the beloved holiday classic with its second-annual production of "A Fairhope Nutcracker" at the Fairhope Civic Center, 161 N. Section St.
The show will open with a spin on the traditional tale, as Clara and her brother Fritz explore the streets of Downtown Fairhope with family and friends.
The whimsical adventure begins when Uncle Drosselmeyer introduces life-sized ballerina and soldier dolls, before gifting Clara a Nutcracker doll. As Clara dreams of sugarplums, a midnight battle unfolds between the Nutcracker and the Mouse Queen, leading Clara on a magical journey through the Mist of Mobile Bay. With the help of angels, they reach the Land of the Sweets, where the Sugarplum Fairy and a host of delightful treats await.
The production also features the "A Fairhope Nutcracker" Soiree on Friday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m. This benefit performance for Children's Dance Theatre includes a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres and a champagne toast, with tickets priced between $30 and $50.
Additional performances of "A Fairhope Nutcracker" will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, with shows at 1 and 6 p.m. Ticket prices range from $10 to $20.
