Children reel in memories at fishing rodeo

The threat of rain didn’t keep the diehard fishing enthusiasts from attending the Annual Fishing Rodeo hosted by the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay.

The event took place at Schaff Pond on Bartel Road in Lillian and featured fun, fellowship, awards and food for all.

The overall winner for the Biggest Fish is 4-year-old River Parker whose fish weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces. The longest fish, 26.75 inches, was caught by 8-year-old Ella Scott Parker.

Ezra Cowan had the second largest catch in the 2-4-year-old group; 5-6 year old, Austin Thomas, Annabelle Kennedy and Liam Cowan; 7-8 year old, Parker Brown, Ella Scott Parker, Noah Carroll; 9-10 year old, Tyler Clark, Owen Thomas, Jay Lightsey; 11-12 year old, Noah Weber, Evan Carroll, Jacob Devers.

Winners in the Longest Fish Category, 2-4 years, second place, Ezra Cowan; 5-6 year old, Austin Thomas Annabelle Kennedy, Evie Zaborny; 7-8 year old, Ella Scott Parker, Parker Brown, Alden Cummings; 9-10 year old, Tyler Clark, Owen Thomas Jay Lightsey; 11-12 year old, Noah Weber, Evan Carroll, Savannah Fleming.
