Two magical worlds. Two classic tales. One enchanting evening.
This is the last weekend you can catch South Baldwin Community Theatre's Young Artist Series in action. A cast of nearly 50 children ages 5 - 19 will produce "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "James and the Giant Peach," both based on the books penned by Roald Dahl.
Director Beth West said the duo of "fun, literary works" help challenge the students and give them a moment in the community's spotlight.
The stories' talking animals and giant fruit stretched the whole cast and crew's imagination.
"It is a challenge. We had to get very creative with our set, lighting and sounds," West said.
The theater produces a show with children each year.
"Theater gives kids the opportunity to not only be brave and express themselves," West said. "Putting on a production is not much different from playing on a soccer team. They work together for the fun of the team and putting on a production is a rush."
The show runs tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Purchase tickets at www.sbct.biz.
