Captain John P. Hamrick, a devoted public servant and loving family man, passed away on Aug. 6, 2024, in Fairhope, Alabama. 

John dedicated the last 19 years to serving his community as a respected member of the Fairhope Police Department and 10 years prior as a Canine officer with the Gulf Shores Police Department. His unwavering commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of those around him left a lasting impact on the town he called home.

A proud graduate of Fairhope High School, Auburn University, and the Police Academy. His professional accomplishments were a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. John was an avid Auburn Fan, as well as a dedicated outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing.

The funeral services to honor John's life were held at the First Baptist Church of Fairhope. A visitation took place on Mon., Aug. 12, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. He was laid to rest at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Leslie Hamrick, and their children, Sydney of Auburn and Nash of Fairhope. He is also mourned by his mother, Nell Franklin Hamrick of Fairhope; sister, Hallie Nell Eberlein, and her husband Patrick of Cartersville, Georgia; and brother, James T. "Jimmy" Hamrick IV, and his wife Patricia of Mobile. John's niece, nephews, and a multitude of relatives and friends, his work family at the Fairhope Police Department, will forever cherish his memory.

In the quiet moments of reflection, let us remember John not only for his service to the community but for the love and kindness he shared with all who knew him. May his legacy of honor and compassion live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Rest in peace, John P. Hamrick. You will be dearly missed, but your memory will be cherished forever.
