The Kiwanis Club of Bay Minette is putting a spooky spin on Halloween with their "Booo-ktober" station at this year's annual Trunk or Treat.
Instead of sugary treats, children will get to "book" their own adventure by choosing from more than 250 titles. Along with their literary haul, kids can snag bookmarks, stickers and reading logs to keep their reading on track.
The event, in support of the North Baldwin Literacy Council, will be Oct. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Blackburn Park, 101 N. Hoyle Ave., in downtown Bay Minette. Admission is free, and the day will be packed with raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, food trucks and plenty of local vendors.
The mix of Halloween fun and community spirit makes this event a page-turner for Bay Minette families.
Sponsored by Southland Jeepers, the Trunk or Treat will also feature a Jeep costume contest, allowing attendees to vote for the best-dressed vehicle.
