Ben Hansert, chief operating officer at Mobile Infirmary and vice president of laboratory services at Infirmary Health, has been elected to a second term as president of the Southwest Regional Council of the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA). The election took place during AlaHA's annual meeting.
"The regional hospital councils offer a crucial platform for hospital leaders to network and share best practices, which is incredibly valuable in our evolving healthcare landscape," said Donald E. Williamson, MD, President of AlaHA. "It is no surprise that a leader like Ben was elected for a second term to serve his region in this capacity."
Hansert's career in healthcare began at Mobile Infirmary, where he worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. He progressed into management roles, including executive director of Infirmary Medical Clinics and president of North Baldwin Infirmary, before returning to Mobile Infirmary as COO in 2021.
Hansert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Cardiopulmonary Sciences from the University of South Alabama. In addition to his role with AlaHA, he serves on the board of directors for LifeSouth Community Blood Centers and has previously served on the boards of the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Health Education Consortium.
Founded in 1921, the Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization committed to supporting member hospitals in meeting Alabama's healthcare needs through advocacy, representation, education and service.
