Ben Fountain Robinson, Jr., Colonel Retired, left this world and all those who loved him on June 24, 2022, at the age of 77.

Ben was born on June 3, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama to the union of Ben F. Robinson, Sr. and Madge Weldon Robinson. He is survived to treasure his memory by his wife Cheryl Preskitt Robinson, sons Ben (Tres) Robinson, III (Tina Fish Robinson) of Hoover, Alabama, Daniel Howard Robinson of Helena, Alabama, sister Jo Marie Thornton of Blountsville, Alabama, grandchildren James William Robinson and Emily Elizabeth Robinson of Hoover, Alabama and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins and a lifetime’s numbers of friends.

Ben attended L. Frazier Banks High School and The Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 1967. He also achieved a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Samford University in 1972.

After graduation from Georgia Tech, he served in the United States Marine Corps and was introduced to the F4 Phantom aircraft and a lifetime love of flying. Upon finishing his time in the Marines, he joined the Alabama National Air Guard in Birmingham, retiring as a Colonel in Dec. 1994. While continuing to fly in the Guard, Ben also worked for Royal Cup Coffee Company until retirement in 2003. He enjoyed 13 years of life at the beach in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach until moving to Foley, Alabama in 2016.

Ben was a lifetime member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, the Red River Valley Assn. and the Phantom Society.

Interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida at 1:30 p.m. on August 15, 2022.
