If you answered yes to any of these, then mark your calendars for March 7-8 — because the 17th-annual BBQ & Blues Cook-Off is coming to Foley’s Heritage Park, and it’s bound to be a weekend full of mouthwatering eats, live blues and community spirit.
The event, hosted by the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation, serves as one of the organization’s largest fundraisers, bringing together food, music and community support.
The two-day festival kicks off Friday, March 7, with live entertainment from local artists. Gates open at 5 p.m., and beverage sales will be available. Admission is $10 at the gate, and no children’s activities will be offered that evening.
On Saturday, March 8, the competition heats up as barbecue teams — both corporate and independent — compete for top honors in multiple categories sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. Festivalgoers can enjoy live blues performances throughout the day, with food samples beginning at 11 a.m. Gates open at 10 a.m., and the event runs until 4 p.m., concluding with an awards presentation. Make sure to browse through the local vendors that will be at the event, such as Wildcat Soaps & Candles.
Tickets for both Friday and Saturday are sold separately and will be available only at the gate.
Proceeds benefit the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation, supporting local education and community initiatives.
Volunteers are needed for roles such as check-ins, gates, bars and merchandise tents. Those interested can sign up at https://bit.ly/bbqvols.
The event takes place at Heritage Park in Downtown Foley at the intersection of Highway 98 and Highway 59. For more information, visit www.foleybbqandblues.net.
