A trio of Baldwin County schools will be represented at the AHSAA North-South All-Star Classic when the rosters were announced on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Outside hitter Haley Robinson and libero Mary Katherine Whitehurst from Bayside Academy, setter Libby Rogers and middle blocker Gabriella Berlage from Fairhope and outside hitter Ella Lomax from Daphne will join forces to help the South All-Stars cut into a 16-10 deficit in the all-time series.
All three schools made the Class 7A regional round of the playoffs where it was Bayside Academy’s first in the largest division following promotions from the Competitive Balance Factor. Fairhope punched a ticket to the regional bracket for the eighth-straight postseason and Daphne made its first regional appearance since 2017.
The standout athletes from the Class of 2026 will also join forces with opponents from across the Bay in Mobile including Class 7A champions outside hitter Catherine McClain and middle blocker Cami Huff from McGill-Toolen as well as Class 3A champion outside hitter Melania Haines from Mobile Christian. From Class 6A, middle blocker Charlie Pearce will represent Saraland and outside hitter Bennett Boulo from St. Paul’s.
The South All-Stars will be coached by Brian Wheatley from Auburn, Wing Brett from UMS-Wright and Virginia Franklin (administrative) from Carver Birmingham.
J.T. Lawrence, Director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA), announced the rosters and the association will also team up with the AHSAA to host all-star games in basketball, baseball, softball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, cross country, and golf during the All-Star Week in July. The cross country all-star teams were next to be released.
