Bayside Academy’s Patrick Daves will compete in a pair of national track and field events this week, the Brooks PR Invitational June 15 in Seattle and the New Balance Outdoor Nationals June 18 in Philadelphia.

He was recently honored as the male outdoor track athlete of the year by the Mobile Optimist Club for Classes 1A-3A after he claimed four more individual state titles to help the Admirals sweep the team competition.

Similarly, Tia Acker from St. Michael Catholic was chosen as Mobile Optimist Club’s female outdoor track athlete of the year for Classes 4A-5A after she claimed three gold medals and set a state-meet record with her 200-meter dash time.

Daves recently graduated from Bayside Academy as a 19-time individual state champion, two-time All-American, a national champion and a University of Alabama signee.

His brother and sister, Michael (‘14) and Meagan (‘17), along with Admiral Head Coach Joe Swagart attended the luncheon May 26. Both siblings also competed in sprint hurdle events in their careers. Patrick has been strongly supported by his father and mother, Michael and Ashley Daves.
