Recent Bayside Academy graduate and University of Alabama pledge Patrick Daves recently captured a third All-American honor after his fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Philadelphia last weekend.
It was also his second national meet that week, as he competed in the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle Wednesday before he traveled to Pennsylvania for the weekend competition. Daves finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdle championships in 14.12 seconds behind Malik Mixon’s winning time of 13.55 seconds.
At the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, Daves won his preliminary heat with the third-fastest time (13.92) then finished second in his semifinal heat with the sixth-fasted time (13.98). He saved his best for last and recorded his meet-best time of 13.85 seconds to finish fifth in the championship and secure another All-American recognition.
Daves recorded a tie with David Warmington from Washington D.C. who finished just behind Texas’ Shane Gardner and Pennsylvania’s Demaris Waters who tied for second with a time of 13.82 seconds. Jason Holmes-Williamson from Maryland won the championship in 13.61 seconds.
