Bayside Academy has been named to the 2024 Advanced Placement Program (AP) School Honor Roll, achieving gold distinction, the College Board announced in a news release.

The recognition highlights schools with AP programs that excel in both broadening access and delivering strong academic outcomes for students.

To earn this distinction, Bayside Academy met rigorous criteria demonstrating a commitment to fostering a college-going culture, offering students opportunities to earn college credit and preparing them for higher education success. The school's achievements are reflected in its impressive AP statistics: 73% of seniors took at least one AP exam during high school, 59% scored a three or higher on at least one exam and 16% took five or more AP exams, including at least one in their freshman or sophomore year.

Bayside Academy offers 15 AP courses spread across 24 sections, supported by 11 dedicated teachers. These courses prepare students for the demands of college while also providing the chance to earn credits and enhance their grade point averages.

Trevor Packer, head of the AP program, praised schools like Bayside Academy for their excellence.

"AP gives students opportunity to engage with college-level work, to earn college credit and placement, and to potentially boost their grade point averages," Packer said in the release. "The schools that have earned this distinction are proof that it is possible to expand access to these college-level courses and still drive strong performance – they represent the best of AP."

The Advanced Placement Program, developed by the College Board, enables high school students to engage with college-level material in 38 subjects. By taking AP courses and passing challenging exams, students gain critical thinking skills, construct sound arguments and explore complex perspectives that prepare them for academic and professional success.

Bayside Academy, an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school serving students from PK3 through 12th grade, continues to demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence and college readiness.
