Bayshore Christian took home a Blue Map trophy this week after the boys' golf team earned low-scoring honors in the 76th AHSAA State Golf Tournament at Oxmoor Valley RTJ Golf Course in Birmingham.

This marks the Eagles' first state title as a team. Michael Heaton, the lowest-scoring Eagle on Monday and who tied as runner-up for the individual Class 1-2A title with fellow teammate Waylon White, also took home top individual honors in 2022 and 2023.

On Monday, May 12, Heaton scored a 69 with six birdies, followed by White's Tuesday low score of 72 with three birdies.

The team, consisting of Walt Howley, Redford Bethea and Grant Kelly in addition to Heaton and White, ended atop the tournament 54-over-par 630. They were followed by North Sand Mountain with 83-over-par 659 in second place, Holy Spirit's 87-over-par 663 third-place finish and Lindsay Lane Christian with 99-over-par 675 in fourth.

Heaton and White's runner-up score came in at 3-over-par 147. Tied for 13th place was Kelly at 24-over-par 168. Bethea ended at 15th with 25-over-par 169, and Howley tied for 16th with 28-over-par 172.

Three other teams in Baldwin County scored in the tournament, including two Red Map trophies for state runners-up titles.

The Bayside Academy boys finished second in Class 5A, while the Spanish Fort girls came in second in Class 6A. The Toros' boys' team finished fourth.

Bayside, who has won three state championships, most recently in 2022, scored 32-over-par 608 as a team, coming up behind West Point's 24-over-par 600. The Admiral team consisted of Henry Cunningham, Ethan Kok, Campbell Hughes, Luke Ferguson and Wells Lambert.

Individually, Ferguson scored low on Monday, and Cunningham did so on Tuesday. Ferguson and Cunningham tied for fifth overall at 7-over-par 151, followed by Hughes and Kok tied for seventh at 9-over-par 153 and Lambert at 19th with 26-over-par 170.
