Bay Minette Tiger Sharks make a splash at City Meet and celebrate with various awards

The Bay Minette Tiger Sharks swim team recently made waves at the City Meet, a two-day competition hosted by the Gulf Coast Area Aquatic League.

Amidst fierce competition from six area teams, the Tiger Sharks clinched second place in their division. Notably, four standout swimmers – Marina Hicks, Emery Landenwich, Patrick Fitzgerald and Micah Bright – earned top-three finishes in their respective age groups.

In the wake of their successful season, the Tiger Sharks celebrated with a festive pool party, where coaches Daylen DeMint, Luke Aplin and Patrick Fitzgerald handed out a variety of awards recognizing the diverse talents and achievements of their swimmers.

The award winners included:

  • Most Knowledgeable: Emery Landenwich
  • Most Likely to Be an Olympian: Ava Claire Harris and Micah Bright
  • Most Competitive: Myles Hadley
  • All-Around Athlete: Zoey Randall and Bryant Cox
  • Most Dedicated: Alyssa Prado and Max Day
  • Fastest Learner: Graham Russell
  • Most Inquisitive: Jack Palmer
  • Most Improved: Charli Lero and Avery Aplin
  • Rookie of the Year: Darbi Lero
  • Most Effort: Saban Wright
  • Most Talkative: Evie Landenwich and Layken Findley
  • The Besties: Emilia Landenwich and Lovie Overstreet
  • Most Spirit: Nassar Brooks and Meri-Katharyn Blackmon
  • Helping Hand: Adelaide Bright
  • Most Likely to Break a Bone: Leah Stuart
  • Prank Master: Mabry Cate Harris
  • Most Determined: Jackson Cross
  • Most Laid Back: Jayna Cross and Grayson Davis
  • Comic Relief: Mary Kate Morrison and Jami Lero
  • Mr. Junior Tiger Shark: Mason Davis
  • Mr. Tiger Shark: Rex Bright
  • Mrs. Junior Tiger Shark: Marina Hicks
  • Mrs. Tiger Shark: Roberta Shelton


Coaches Daylen, Luke, and Patrick expressed immense pride in all the swimmers, emphasizing their dedication and hard work throughout the season. They eagerly anticipate an even better season next summer.
