The City of Bay Minette recently celebrated the dedication and hard work of its employees at its annual employee service recognition luncheon, where pins were awarded to longtime staff, and Jodi Robinson was named the 2024 Employee of the Year.
Mayor Bob Wills and members of city council attended to thank employees for their contributions over the past year. The luncheon highlighted the importance of teamwork and perseverance in keeping city operations running smoothly.
Employees receiving service pins for their commitment to the city included Murry Stewart of Public Works, who was recognized for 40 years of service. Other honorees included Toni Crook (25 years, Library), Joanna Bailey (20 years, Library), Christina Salter (15 years, Library), Mikki Bjuro (10 years, Holly Hills), Heather Ford (10 years, Municipal Court), Jason Price (5 years, Holly Hills), Milton Giles (5 years, SAIL Center), TJ Caraway (5 years, Grounds/Parks), Randall Hastings and Edgar Eleogo (5 years, Public Works), and Taylor Benson, Jeff Weaver and Paul Adams (5 years, Police Department).
The highlight of the event was the recognition of Jodi Robinson as the 2024 Employee of the Year. Robinson, a permit technician in the Planning and Development Services Department, has worked with the city for three and a half years. She was chosen for the honor based on nominations from her peers.
"What truly sets this employee apart is their resilience and dedication in the face of their own challenges" Wills said, reading excerpts of a nomination letter. Robinson has "maintained exemplary attendance and performance, embodying a level of perseverance that is nothing short of inspiring."
According to her colleagues, Robinson has gone above and beyond to ensure her department operates efficiently, all while pursuing further training and skill development. Her proactive approach, described as being motivated by a desire to assist coworkers and strengthen team performance, embodies the spirit of collaboration valued by the city.
The luncheon concluded with a festive touch as employees participated in drawings for door prizes and rounds of bingo. Prizes for these activities were donated by individuals and area businesses. Additionally, a citywide Christmas decoration contest among departments crowned the custodial staff as the winners, determined by votes from luncheon attendees.
