A variety of performances and community events are set to take place in Bay Minette and North Baldwin in the coming weeks, offering residents and visitors a range of entertainment, shopping and volunteer opportunities.
The Spring installment of Burgers & Bingo will bring food and fun to Bay Minette on March 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center. Bingo games are free to play, with plenty of prizes up for grabs. Baldwin County High School baseball players will grill hamburgers and hot dogs, while the Kiwanis Club will sell drinks and snacks. Cups for a Cure Lemonade Truck will also be on-site serving refreshments.
North Baldwin Infirmary will host a free health fair, Your Health, Your Life, on March 27 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center. The event will feature hospital service updates, facility improvements and community health resources. The first 200 attendees will receive a swag bag, and raffle prizes will be available.
Beta Chi Sigma is collecting items for its annual donation drive benefiting Oakwood (Crowne) Nursing Home. Donations should be labeled to the attention of Kayland Lamar and can be dropped off at Baldwin County High School through March 28.
Book lovers can browse a selection of discounted titles during the Spring Into a Good Book Sale on March 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Bay Minette Public Library. Books will be available on the front lawn and in the upstairs book sale room. Library-branded totes will be available for purchase with a "fill the bag" option. All proceeds support library projects.
North Baldwin Youth Theatre will present performances of "Cinderella" at Coastal Alabama Community College on March 31 and April 1. Showtimes are 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. both days, with an additional 6:30 p.m. show on April 1. Tickets are $5 at the door.
A special community performance of "The Princess and the Frog" will take place on April 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Coastal Alabama Community College. The event is in partnership with the Eastern Shore Art Center's Rural Outreach Initiative Program. Admission is free, with funding provided by the Daniel Foundation and the Community Foundation of South Alabama.
The North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce will host a free outdoor movie night featuring "Wicked" on April 4 at 6 p.m. in Blackburn Park. The event includes a costume contest, arts and crafts and popcorn. Delta Realty is sponsoring the event.
Ladies Night Out will take place on April 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center. The one-stop shopping event will feature local vendors and retailers, benefiting the North Baldwin Coalition for Excellence in Education and other community projects. Admission is $5. The first 150 guests will receive a swag bag, and raffle tickets will be available to support local schools and organizations.
Gardeners can participate in the Third-Annual Plant Swap on April 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Bay Minette Public Library Courtyard. Participants should bring healthy plants, seeds or cuttings to trade with others in the community. The swap follows an honor system where participants should take no more than they contribute. Residents can drop off recyclables during Clean Out & Recycle Day on April 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at Bay Minette City Hall. Items accepted include grease, aluminum, metals, cardboard, electronics, ink cartridges and soda tabs. The North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Crawfish Cook-Off at Halliday Park on April 26. The event will feature food, music and friendly competition. Teams can register at northbaldwinchamber.com or follow the chamber on Facebook for details.
The Bay Minette Fire Department will hold a bass fishing tournament on May 10 at Live Oak Landing in Stockton. The tournament has a five-fish, 12-inch minimum limit, and registration is $100 per boat for two-man teams. Launch is at first light, with a 1 p.m. weigh-in.
