Bay Minette Flag Football kicks off successful season

Recreation Department aided by North Baldwin Community Foundation to get league off the ground

Posted

The Bay Minette Recreation Department started its very first season of flag football with support from the North Baldwin Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of South Alabama.

The Rec program received a $1,000 grant from the foundation to purchase equipment for the new league.

“We have had a great inaugural season so far and the kids are loving it,” said Blake Clark, Recreation Director.

Flag Football is a non-contact sport that focuses more on the basics of the game. The Rec Department recently began its transition into the Fall Tackle football program starting with practices in August.

The season opens Sept. 10 and teams will travel across the county for games as they compete to reach the Super Bowl. The fall league is open to children aged 7- to 12-years old.
