A significant turnout marked the morning of Wednesday, May 1, for the Walk and Roll to School Day event at Bay Minette Elementary School (BMES).
Students, teachers and parents gathered at the Bay Minette Municipal Pool to commence the journey to BMES, following the sidewalks along East 12th Street to Hoyle Avenue before entering the school campus on East 8th Street.
The event, an annual initiative aimed at promoting safer routes for walking and bicycling, witnessed families and friends joining together for the walk.
Sponsored by the Safe Routes to School Coalition, the event highlights the importance of enhancing physical health among children, pedestrian safety, mitigating traffic congestion and environmental consciousness.
Notably, this event, the fourth organized by the Baldwin County Safe Routes to School Coalition, marked BMES's first time participating.
