MOBILE — Anna Goecke, of Foley, is one of six young women named to the 2023 - 2024 USS Alabama crewmates program.

The USS ALABAMA Crewmate program was founded in 1967 as an ambassador program for the newly created USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. Each year a group of young women is selected to represent USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park at local and state events. The Crewmates serve as official hostess at the park and work to promote the park and tourism throughout the year. More than 250 young women to date have served as USS Alabama Crewmates. Goecke, 19, attends the University of South Alabama where she is a freshman majoring in Business Administration. She is the daughter of Richard and Michelle
Leverett. Goecke is the only crewmate this year who hails from Baldwin County.

Other crewmates named to the roster for the new year are: Caryngten Baggett, Abigail Bolton, Jordyn Bradley, Sierra McLean, and Elise Williams.

The USS Alabama Crewmates are awarded a $2,000 scholarship to the college or university of their choice. At the end of their year of service two of the six will be named Miss USS Alabama and Miss USS Drum. Each will receive an additional $1,000 and $500 scholarship respectively.
