Barbara Jane Jones Sechrest was born in Oklahoma City Jul. 4, 1942, and danced into the arms of Jesus at her home in Elberta on Nov. 30, 2024. At almost three years old she was going to an orphanage but was adopted by Ben and Helen Jones. She was a lifelong supporter of orphanages, fiercely independent, a lifelong Methodist and the picture of a virtuous woman. She was raised in

Marlow, Oklahoma, married Russell Stone and had one child Sheila Virginia Stone Schoen who survives her. Later she married Charlie Sechrest who predeceased her. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher, an honors student at Faulkner and Troy, an accounting whiz, an ace pool player, a marvelous dancer, a supporter of women’s and children’s ministries, a staunch military and veteran benefactor, a collector of art glass and antiques, a fan of the westerns channel and a yellow-dog Democrat. She maintained membership in the Duncan, Oklahoma, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star. Barbara is also survived by perfect son-in-law Craig Schoen, his children Will (Katlyn and baby Addie) and Emily Schoen, her sister Cecilia DePaola, her

brother Al Abono, Junior, her sister-in-law Carolyn Stone Goodrich, her brother in- law David Stone, and those who called her Aunt Bobbie or Aunt Barbara David, Bob, Mindy, Maggie, Jill, Jayne, Chuck, Leo, Dante, Robin Stone, Holly Stone Green, Marcus Goodrich, Sarge the cat and many great nieces and nephews. Barbara had a strong relationship with God and believed “We create our own unhappiness. The purpose of suffering is to help us understand we are the ones

who cause it.” Her visitation and funeral were at the Foley United Methodist Church with internment at Elberta Public Cemetery. The pallbearers were Bert Jones, Kyle Schoen, Brian Isphording, Eli Chandler, Dalton Schoen and Chris McCormick. Professional and kind assistance was provided by Mack Funeral Home.
