Baptist Heart and Vascular Institute (BHVI) provides specialized care for patients experiencing heart failure at its Heart Optimization Clinic, located at the new Baptist Hospital campus at 125 Baptist Way in Pensacola.
Heart failure occurs when the heart cannot effectively pump blood to the rest of the body, causing the body’s need for oxygen to only be partially met. The compassionate providers at BHVI’s Heart Optimization Clinic offer focused attention to patients with a heart failure diagnosis. The Heart Optimization Clinic, in conjunction with BHVI physicians, manages all stages of heart failure, including patients who have received heart surgery and those with left ventricular assistive devices (LVADs). The Heart Optimization Clinic also offers other services, including pharmacy, diagnostics, infusion center, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, home care collaboration, a dietitian, an outpatient nurse educator, and inpatient cardiovascular nurse educators.
“Patients seen in our clinic have already received a diagnosis of heart failure, and our job is to ensure that these patients are able to live their lives to their fullest potential despite their diagnosis,” said clinic manager Toinetta Coolie, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC. “The Heart Optimization Clinic is not only a skilled team of professionals, but a family. Our family embraces those we serve in our communities. We treat patients holistically.”
The Heart Optimization Clinic’s multidisciplinary team includes Toinetta T. Coolie, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC; Pelbreton C. Balfour Jr., M.D., M.S., FACC, FSCMR, HF-Cert; Sumit Verma, M.D., FACC, FHRS; and Brent D. Videau, M.D., FACC, FASE, FASH.
