Calling all artists! Ballyhoo Festival organizers have released dates for the 2023 event and put out the call for local artisans.

The 9th Annual Ballyhoo Fine Arts Festival will be held March 4-5 at Gulf State Park. The festival combines a celebration of fine art and crafts with a cultural exchange. The two-day event features more than 90 artists from all over the United States and draws thousands of visitors to the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Each year the Poarch Creek Indians perform an original tribal dance in ceremonial regalia. There is also a fiddle and banjo competition with $1,500 in cash prizes awarded to the winners.

"We're really excited for the 9th Annual Ballyhoo Festival coming up next year," said Autumn Marks, festival director. "Each year, we see more and more artists applying for the festival, helping us to establish an incredibly unique and creative event for our beaches."

Artists, vendors and competitors interested in participating in the 2023 Ballyhoo Festival should visit ballyhoofestival.org for more information and registration.

The 2023 Ballyhoo Festival is Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 5 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The festival will be located at the Lake Shelby Picnic Area, 20115 State Park Road, Gulf Shores.
